How Does It Work?
Skin Care for Dogs is effective on skin problems including hot spots because it uses the following unique 4 stage system:
1. Natural disinfectants (Eucalyptus Oil) quickly kills the infection throughout the dermal layers.
2. A skin protector (Allantoin) promotes rapid tissue healing.
3. Olive Oil & Menthol discourages your pet from biting and scratching the irritated area.

Skin Care for Dogs is the most technologically advanced comprehensive and effective system ever developed to treat canine skin problems including "hot spots". Skin Care for Dogs is effective in treating and relieving hot spots, allergic dermatitis, dry skin, and other common skin infections.

A hot spot is the nickname given to a condition called pyotraumatic dermatitis. A hot spot consists of a bacterial infection (usually staphylococcus intermedius) that develops and rapidly spreads in the skin. A hot spot will be warm to the touch, painful to your dog and will emit pus and smell badly. Hair will usually fall out from the infected area. Because this condition is so painful and irritating the dog will usually bite and scratch the area further spreading the infection. Treatment should be started as soon as possible to prevent the infection from becoming systemic.

Dogs often bite or lick infected areas. In many cases, such as hot spots and lick granuloma, the licking and chewing is detrimental and prevents healing and/or spreads the infection. Boomer and I have been fighting dry skin patches for years. It was so bad that he didn't have hair on his right flank. This Doctor Dog skin Care for Dogs is the best! I have tried many items for my Golden Retriever which he had itching, scabs created from the itching and dry skin areas. Once I put this on him, he was so calm and relaxed and stopped itching and it takes the scab away right away. Apply it for a few days after and the spot is all cleared up. I would like to know if you could find a way to to make this product in a spray for his whole coat. The first part of Spring and Fall he gets affected all over and to use this cream on a 115lb dog even though you only need a little bit, it gets low quick. See what you can do. The Skin Care for Dogs works on my dog. It is the only product I have found that stops the itch...I hated for my dog to spend her nights scratching and itching and licking, because I knew she was miserable (not to mention our sleepless nights). Not that I'm endorsing use of the product in any way other than intended, but my husband and I have used it on our own insect bites. My husband also uses it to help control dandruff. It works.

Dog: Collie Age: 7 Purchased Product: 12/6/10 Been Using Product For: 4 days My collie Roxie recently got a bad rash of hot spots. I noticed it about a month ago starting on her chest area since she was losing hair. I tried bathing her in oatmeal shampoo, and even tried cleaning her hot spots daily with various antiseptics. Then, I went on a business trip for two weeks and after I picked her up the hot spots were very bad. They had spread from her chest area into her arm pits, her front legs, and up her neck. She also had some noticeable hot spot growth starting on her sides and her tummy. I used the product for two days on Roxie and saw some mild improvement. Then, I decided I needed to get more agressive and shaved my collie completely. It exposed a lot more hot spots than I had been able to find by combing through her fur and clipping around the hot spots. I felt really bad as an owner and I could tell she was in pain and suffering, constantly licking the hot spots or biting at them. After two more days of using the product with her fur shaved there has been a huge improvement in her skin coloration. Her skin has gone from beat red in the affected areas to a light pink. It's not at a normal color yet, but it has helped a lot and I have noticed she is sleeping peacefully now. HEALED! HEALED! HEALED! as the televangelists might say. :-) The dog is healed, and the hot spot is gone, gone, gone! Hallelujah! In just a matter of a few weeks, this gentle but effective lotion did everything it says it does: provides antiseptic healing, discourages scratching, and provides a natural substrate for skin and hair rejuvenation. And, it does so at a fraction of the cost of most veterinarian formulas. I was also pleased with the way the product worked with our dog's skin. It "blended in" well, with gentle massage, and "wore" well, so her coat didn't look as if she'd had a play-date with a grease vat. We actually do not have much of a flea problem here, but ticks are a regular nuisance. I found that the tick bites and resultant irritation were causing problems for our dog.
