Reward and Punishment Dog Training.

There are two different methods of training a puppy. One focuses on rewarding your dog for good behavior, the other focuses on punishing your dog for bad behavior. Reward training has been found to be more successful in bringing up an obedient well adjusted dog. A dog whose training has been punishment based will obey out of fear, and will frequently disobey if someone is not around to punish him. A dog taught through reward training, however, wants to obey and consequently will be better behaved in general, and will be socialized better. Rewarding your dog can be done in several ways. Some dogs respond to a treat, while others prefer attention or a toy to play with. Be patient with your puppy, it can take along time for some behaviors to be taught.
